VALATIE, N.Y. — Tierra Farm, a certified organic manufacturer and distributor of nuts, dried fruits, coffee, and chocolate products based in Valatie, N.Y., is pleased to announce that it has been named as one of the 2017 Best Places to Work by the Albany Business Review.
These annual awards recognize companies which offer and foster a positive work environment and superior benefits to their employees, as determined through employee surveys. This year, Tierra Farm was one of 40 companies to receive the honor, chosen from more than 150 nominees. Winning companies are being honored today at a luncheon hosted by the Albany Business Review.
“Since this award is based on how our employees feel about our company, it’s especially meaningful,” said Todd Kletter, CEO of Tierra Farm. “Cultivating a workplace culture of wellbeing and fulfillment has long been one of our priorities, and so it goes without saying that we’re always open to exploring new ideas which will help us continue to do that.”
Tierra Farm’s 60, mostly full-time employees benefit from daily homemade lunches prepared on-site using locally-grown produce, as well as access to a fitness center on the farm grounds. Full time employees also enjoy traditional benefits such as health insurance, for which Tierra Farm covers all premium and reimburse for all co-pays, as well as dental and vision coverage, and a 401(k).
All of Tierra Farm’s products are produced in small, hand-crafted batches and are certified organic, certified gluten-free, certified kosher and GMO-free. Bulk and pre-packaged sales of Tierra Farm products to cooperatives, health food stores and independently-owned grocery stores nationwide make up the majority of its business. Tierra Farm recently opened a satellite facility in a suburb of Denver, Colorado.
